Labiaplasty in The Woodlands, TX

Labiaplasty, also known as a labial reduction surgery is a surgical procedure designed to alter the size and shape of the labia minora, the inner folds of the vagina, and the labia majora, the outer folds of the vagina. This cosmetic procedure works to reduce the size of the labia minora and reconstruct it into a more desirable shape and size.  All labia are normal, but can have a large variation in size, coloration and thickness.  Labia also change with age, hormone changes and pregnancy.

Reasons To Get a Labiaplasty

  • Gain a more youthful look
  • Reduce asymmetry
  • Increase self-confidence
  • Improved comfort
  • Enhance sexuality
  • Reduce vaginal irritation

Surgical Techniques

The two most common techniques are the wedge or trim resection.  Individual recommendations will be discussed at your consultation.

Wedge Resection

  • Involves excising a V-shaped wedge from the labia minora.
  • Preserves the natural edge of the labia.
  • Minimizes scarring and maintains a natural appearance.

Trim Resection

  • Removes excess tissue from the entire length of the labia minora.
  • May be associated with increased scarring.

FAQs

What Is the Recovery Process Like?

After the procedure, you can expect to experience bruising and swelling for about 2 weeks. You should refrain from exercise or sexual intercourse for 6 weeks and wear pads for the first few days, as spotting is normal following the procedure. Typically, you can return to work after a few days.

Will I Have a Scar?

You will get a scar from the procedure, but because of the location of the treatment, the scarring often goes unnoticed.

How Long Does the Surgery Take?

Generally speaking, the procedure takes 2 hours. This is an outpatient procedure, so you will be able to go home the same day that the surgery is performed.  Most of these procedures are performed in our office under local anesthesia and Nitrous gas.
