We deliver at Houston Methodist Hospital where you and your baby will receive exceptional care and attention!
When do I need to go to the hospital?
If you are past 36-weeks pregnant go to the hospital:
- If you are experiencing regular contractions that happen every 5 minutes, are painful, and are 1 minute long for at least an hour.
- If you think you are leaking amniotic fluid. It will usually be a large gush of fluid. Even if you are not experiencing contractions you still need to go to the hospital.
- If you have any heavy bleeding like your menses. Spotting or brown discharge is normal and not a reason you need to go to the hospital.
- If you are not feeling the baby move normally.
- If you are experiencing anything that is concerning to you and not resolving.
If you are prior to 36 weeks pregnant go to the hospital:
- If you have six or more contractions in an hour that are not alleviated when you rest and hydrate.
- If you have bleeding.
- If you think you are leaking amniotic fluid.
- If you are experiencing anything that is concerning to you and not resolving.
If you are bleeding, contracting, or believe you are in labor, please go directly to labor and delivery at the hospital. You do not need to call us. The hospital will contact us after you have been evaluated.
How do I contact you?
If you need to talk to us, you can always reach us, or someone who can help, by calling our office at 281.364.9898.
If you call during office hours, you will usually be able to speak directly to a nurse or can leave a message and we will get back to you as soon as possible. If you have an emergency after hours, or on the weekends, our number is answered by an answering service who will page us. Please allow about 30 minutes for us to call you back.
Please respect that after-hours calls are for emergencies only and reserve any routine questions for regular office hours.
We hope this answered some initial questions you may have had about your pregnancy! As always, please ask us about any questions or concerns you may have. We look forward to sharing this special time with you and your family!
