Hormone Therapy

Feeling tired? Can’t sleep? Trouble focusing? Just not feeling the same? Have you had your testosterone tested? These are the symptoms of declining testosterone levels. This decline is now termed andropause, similar to menopause in women. Andropause not only makes us feel bad, it also increases our risk of heart disease, prostate cancer, diabetes and obesity.

Symptoms Of Low Testosterone

  • Decreased energy, work performance, and motivation
  • Muscle loss and decline in strength and exercise tolerance
  • Aching joints
  • Decreased libido
  • Difficulty achieving orgasm
  • Erectile disfunction
  • Depression
  • Moodiness
  • Difficulty remembering things
  • Fat gain
  • Height loss due to bone loss

Not all men need testosterone. Lifestyle changes, exercise, supplements and medication can be used to enhance the body’s natural production of testosterone. With a simple blood test and consultation, Dr. Syal can help you determine the right treatment for you.

When necessary, if conservative treatments fail, testosterone therapy with high quality sterile bio-identical pellets is offered. This is a highly effective treatment that lasts 4-6 months. Compared to injections, creams and gels, pellet therapy is more effective with less side effects. Restoring your testosterone level will improve your energy, sleep, memory, sex drive and erections. Some even experience weight loss.

What Are Testosterone Pellets?

Testosterone pellets are pure testosterone derived from a soy base. They are completely absorbed over 4-6 months.

Advantages Of Testosterone Pellets Over Other Treatments

Pellets offer a very consistent level of absorption which results in steady blood levels. Problems with creams and gels include variable absorption resulting in inconsistent levels and risk of transferring to others. Shots are given every 1-2 weeks depending on the formulation. These result in a wide fluctuation in levels. Although testosterone therapy is very safe, problems can occur when levels exceed normal levels.

How Often Will I Need a Blood Test?

After the initial blood tests and insertion, levels are checked at one month. If levels are adequate, then blood is only checked once a year or if symptoms change.

Where Are The Pellets Inserted?

After administering a local anesthetic, pellets are inserted usually in the upper hip area through a tiny incision.

How Long Do Pellets Last?

Testosterone pellets last for 4 to 6 months in men. The more active you are the faster they will dissolve. You will get higher levels with activity, but they may not last as long.

Is Pellet Therapy Covered By Insurance?

Bio identical pellets are not covered by your health insurance. Most flex plans do allow funds to be used for this treatment. Most patients find the cost of pellet therapy is very reasonable compared to other options.

Why Is A Gynecologist Treating Men For Hormones?

Most ob/gyns have always been very passionate about the benefits of hormone therapy for our female patients. For the most part men have not had a champion for their hormone health. My interest in men’s health started at the request of my female patients. They were feeling all the benefits of hormone therapy and were frustrated that they could not find someone to treat their partner. I have been treating men’s hormones with the same passion and enthusiasm since 2014.
