At Woodlands OBGYN, we offer Emsculpt, the only procedure to help both men and women sculpt their body and build muscle. It is a non-invasive body toning procedure that can help you achieve amazing results that would otherwise take months at the gym. While other body contouring machines focus solely on skin and fat, Emsculpt stimulates and builds muscle at the same time. Spend less time at the gym, more time for yourself and still get the body of your dreams.

Fact is, Emsculpt is FDA-approved and safe. It’s a great way to feel great about the definition and contours of your body. What’s not to love?

Emsculpt Treatment The Woodlands TX

How does Emsculpt work?

Emsculpt is non-invasive. This means we are able to produce impressive results without the use of knives, needles, anesthesia or other surgical devices. You can just lay back and relax while the machine does the work. The machine is placed on the outside of your body and induces powerful muscle contractions induced by High-Intensity Focused Electro-Magnetic (HIFEM) energy. This energy is able to induce contractions in your muscles that are more powerful than what would be achievable through voluntary contractions (even with aide from a personal trainer). These contractions are so powerful that one 30 minute session is the equivalent of doing 22,000 sit ups.

Am I a good candidate for Emsculpt?

Emsculpt isn’t a weight-loss treatment; it’s a body-contouring treatment. These innovative treatments are intended for patients with a BMI of 25 or less. That would be in the “normal” category. Emsculpt provides more noticeable results in patients who are thinner and have more muscle visibility. The core strength gains are the same for all patients, but the visible component of these treatments is more prevalent if you are at your ideal BMI for your height.

People with implanted devices, such as pacemakers, are not candidates as the electromagnetic energy of Emsculpt can interfere with the device.

How long does the Emsculpt Treatment take and when will I see results?

Your Emsculpt treatment plan will be dependant on your specific goals and we will take the time to make a plan that works for you. Often, there is a minimum of four 30-minute treatment sessions that are spread out through a few weeks. Positive results are usually reported two to four weeks after the last session. Your results will continue to improve several weeks following your treatments.

Is there any preparation necessary for an Emsculpt session?

No preparation is necessary before your Emsculpt session at Woodlands OBGYN. As mentioned above, you could consider weight loss as preparation if you need to get down to a BMI of 25 or less. That’s because Emsculpt works best when the patient is already at a healthy weight and is in relatively good physical condition. That’s when the most sculpting is achieved.

Is there recovery after Emsculpt?

This non-invasive treatment does not require any recovery time after. You will not have to schedule any downtime following your treatment.

Are Emsculpt treatments painful?

With the powerful contractions this device produces, it may seem like the Emsculpt may be painful, but most patients have described the treatment as an ‘intense workout’. There is no downtime or recovery necessary following treatment.

Is Emsculpt safe? Are there side effects?

The FDA has approved Emsculpt for body contouring. Because Emsculpt simply triggers muscle contractions, just as you would with exercise, there aren’t any risks or side effects. Yes, 20,000 sit-ups, about what a typical session equals, isn’t a naturally attainable number, but Emsculpt has been proven to have no side effects. Patients can have some mild muscle soreness, as you would have after a typical workout, but that’s it. You can immediately go back to work or your normal activities after your Emsculpt session.

How much does Emsculpt cost?

The cost of our Emsculpt treatments at Woodlands OBGYN varies depending upon the area of your body you’re working on. When you come in for a consultation to see if Emsculpt is right for you, we can give you an exact estimate of how much an Emsculpt session will cost.

Does insurance cover Emsculpt?

Emsculpt is considered to be an elective procedure. As such it is not covered by health insurance.

How does Emsculpt compare to traditional strength training?

Emsculpt uses high-intensity focused electromagnetic (HIFEM) energy to induce thousands of powerful supramaximal muscle contractions during each session. These contractions go far beyond what can be achieved through voluntary exercise alone. In a 30-minute Emsculpt session, muscles contract approximately 20,000 times — an intensity that would be difficult to replicate through conventional workouts. While traditional strength training gradually builds muscle through repeated activity and progressive resistance, Emsculpt accelerates muscle building and toning in a shorter time frame, making it ideal for enhancing results or breaking through a plateau.

Is Emsculpt safe for postpartum core strengthening?

Emsculpt can be a beneficial tool for postpartum women, particularly those struggling with weakened abdominal muscles or mild diastasis recti (a separation of abdominal muscles). The non-invasive technology targets deep muscle layers to promote re-toning and improved core support without surgical intervention. However, timing is important — women must be fully healed from childbirth, and any active medical conditions such as C-section incision complications or severe abdominal separation should be ruled out first. A personalized consultation with an expert at Woodlands OBGYN Associates will help determine readiness and suitability for postpartum treatment.

Can Emsculpt improve athletic performance?

While Emsculpt is not a substitute for physical training, it can complement athletic conditioning by strengthening specific muscle groups more deeply and efficiently. Athletes and fitness enthusiasts often use Emsculpt to boost core strength, enhance abdominal definition, improve gluteal muscle activation, and support muscular balance. By increasing baseline muscle tone and endurance, you may notice improved posture, stability, and functional performance in your regular physical activities.

Does Emsculpt work on areas with loose skin?

Emsculpt is not intended to tighten loose skin. Its primary mechanism of action targets the muscles underneath the skin to build tone and volume. While you may notice a subtle improvement in skin appearance due to increased muscle firmness and improved posture, these results are secondary.

How often can I repeat Emsculpt sessions to maintain results?

Following an initial series of four treatments spaced over two weeks, you could likely benefit from maintenance sessions every 3 to 6 months, depending on your activity level and personal goals. Maintenance helps sustain muscle tone and definition over time. Some patients incorporate periodic touch-up sessions into their wellness routine, especially if they have limited time for traditional workouts or are recovering from periods of inactivity.
