Physician Supervised Clinical Weight Loss: A Viable Solution!
Many patients desiring weight loss have experienced the frustration of their efforts. Weight loss is a component of overall health. Excessive weight increases the risk of heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and hormone dysfunction.
The foundation of our weight loss program is common sense, education, optimizing hormones and use of medication as needed. At your initial evaluation extensive testing for hormone dysfunction (including thyroid) diabetes and pre-diabetes. Any deficiencies will be addressed. The key to weight loss is to eat less, eat smarter, move more and monitor your progress. To help you succeed I may prescribe a low dose appetite suppressant combined with low dose naltrexone (LDN). Naltrexone is medication used to treat narcotic overdose. In a low dose, naltrexone reduces cravings for food. LDN can also reduce insulin resistance and improve thyroid function. Sleep may also improve with LDN resulting in improved growth hormone, and hormone balances.
LDN is not a miracle drug for weight loss. However, it is a useful tool in addition to others than can help you reach your goal.
