Preparing for childbirth
Our team delivers at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital in the labor and delivery unit. This facility has a wide range of services including a NICU in the event it is needed for your baby. We encourage women to register at the hospital online at houstonmethodist.org any time after the first trimester. Women can make an appointment to tour the facility and learn about the services provided and complete their registration for childbirth, labor, or cesarean section (C-section). The hospital also offers a wide range of tours and classes for those interested in educating themselves further about the pregnancy and childbirth process.
Who will deliver my baby?
Whenever possible, the doctor that has provided you with services throughout your pregnancy will be the provider there to help in delivering your baby at Houston Methodist The Woodlands Hospital. However, in the event your primary care doctor is not available or on call during the time you go into labor, another one of our experienced OBGYNs will be there to assist.
Should I consider cord blood and tissue collection?
Many parents opt to preserve their child’s cord blood and tissue stem cells through stem cell banking. Stem cells can be a lifesaving treatment later on for a variety of conditions and diseases. Clinical studies continue to show the benefits of using these stem cells for treating conditions such as heart disease, diabetes, hearing loss, and brain injuries. During your visit to the hospital, you can ask more questions about this process and determine if it is right for you and your family.
